Kimi Chauhan

Kimi is a 4th year medical student at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Rochester, MN. She is pursuing residency training in Radiation Oncology. Prior to medicine, Kimi worked as a consultant bioengineer in a medical start-up company in California. Throughout her life, Kimi has been passionate about helping others. In fact, she volunteered in several organizations, including an English tutoring company to empower young non-English speaking women.

A unique experience during medical school, further shaped Kimi’s outlook on life. In her first year of medical school, Kimi and her husband learned they were pregnant with their first child. During her 20-week anatomy ultrasound, Kimi learned of her daughter’s congenital heart defect, transposition of the great arteries. Her daughter had open heart surgery when she was 5 days old. Since then, Kimi has been an even stronger advocate for patients and families undergoing hardships.

Through her work, Kimi has connected with many heart families, who have shared their experiences and words of wisdom with her. This sense of community has inspired her to be an active parent advocate for heart kiddos. Through her personal and professional contacts with dedicated healthcare professionals, Kimi aspires to build the Minnesota region of the Children’s Heart Foundation.
