Dr. Evan Zahn is an interventional cardiologist and director of the Congenital Heart Program and the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute in Los Angeles.
Recognized as an expert in treating children born with life-threatening structural heart problems, Dr. Zahn is dedicated to advancing the study of congenital heart disease and introducing more minimally invasive treatments. He has developed the Amplatzer Piccolo™ Occluder, which is the first FDA-approved transcatheter device. Smaller than the size of a pea, this medical innovation can be implanted in the tiniest babies (even those weighing as little as two pounds) using a minimally invasive procedure and used to treat patent ductus arteriosus, or PDA. Dr. Zahn has also conducted exciting new research on transcatheter valves.
