The Pittsburgh Congenital Heart Walk is part of the nation’s premiere walk series dedicated to raising funds for congenital heart defect research.
PITTSBURGH, PA, March 21, 2024 – The Children’s Heart Foundation is honored to have U. S. Steel as the Presenting Sponsor of the Pittsburgh Congenital Heart Walk to be held on Sunday, June 23, at Stage AE.
The Congenital Heart Walk is the nation’s largest walk series dedicated to raising money to fund congenital heart defect research. Congenital heart defects, or CHDs, are America’s most common and deadly birth defect. Nearly 40,000 babies are born with a CHD each year in the U.S.; this equates to 1 child every 15 minutes.
“We are proud to join with The Children’s Heart Foundation in their mission to fund research that helps some of the most vulnerable members of our communities,” said Don German, U. S. Steel Mon Valley Works – Irvin Plant Manager. “This event, and others like it throughout the United States, bring together dedicated individuals with one goal in mind – saving lives.”
The Pittsburgh Congenital Heart Walk Presented by U. S. Steel will unite supporters to raise funds for research to improve survival, longevity, and quality of life for all CHD patients. Join us as at Stage AE for a day of fun activities, entertainment, research updates, and our family-friendly one mile walk! Together, we can bring hope, inspiration, and unity to the forefront of our mission. Visit https://events.chfwalk.org/event/pittsburgh to register to walk, start a team, sign up to volunteer, or make a donation.
Since 1996, The Children’s Heart Foundation has funded nearly $18 million of CHD research and scientific collaborations, helping lead to improved diagnostics, earlier interventions, groundbreaking procedures, and life-saving treatments for individuals living with CHDs. The money raised by the Congenital Heart Walk series is helping to fund the groundbreaking research of tomorrow.
