Call for Research Proposals

This year, The Children’s Heart Foundation is re-evaluating our research grant application process as part of our newly adopted strategic plan. Our goal is to have improved processes for 2019 and beyond. While we will not be administering a call for new research proposals this year, we will continue our mission by raising and allocating funds toward the most promising independent and co-funded CHD research.

We will fulfill our funding obligations in 2018 for any second-year funding requests that are approved from first-year grants funded in 2017. We anticipate to announce this decision later this year. Funds raised for research that are not utilized within the 2018 cycle will be added to funds raised in 2019 to allow us to fund even more promising research for congenital heart disease.

In the meantime, if you have a great congenital heart defect (CHD) research project ready to submit for funding, please apply for the AHA/CHF Congenital Heart Defect Research Awards.

Through the AHA/CHF Congenital Heart Defect Research Awards, a total of $22.5 million will be awarded through 2021 to provide support for investigators who are actively conducting basic, clinical, population or translational research directly related to CHDs. Thank you for your support and patience as we build for future growth and success in furthering our mission of funding the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of CHDs.
